Get Your Priorities Right

One of the greatest blockades to destiny that many people face especially in their youth is the need for popularity. For acceptance, young people will do almost anything. If I had known in my teen years that I would spend the greater part of my life without the people whose opinions I esteemed highly I would have done a lot of things differently. I remember how hard it was to learn to smoke with a straight face without choking. It was hard, but to me it was worth it. I needed to prove myself to my friends that I could do it too and I was cool just like them. Most of us even had to lie about “conquests” achieved in the bedroom all for the sake of popularity, slandering young girls and their reputations.

An upright lifestyle is far more precious than the “bad guy” status. Whether you really are the bad guy or pretend to be one, sooner or later there are consequences to be faced. There will be a compromise of morality and values to maintain either. Refuse to sacrifice destiny on the alter of popularity. Most of the boys and girls that were cool in high school aren’t so great as adults. They are usually the alcoholics, druggies and drop-outs. There is hope for all, but it is better to stay away from all that from the onset.

Affirmation: I choose to maintain my integrity and preserve my destiny.

Kick That Relapse! - Round The Same Mountain

      The terrorist of discouragement

“Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up.” – Proverbs 24:16a (CEV)

The hardest thing for most people trying to kick out bad habits and practices is when they find themselves repeating things they thought they had buried. In most cases, these practices have been a part of your life for a very long time. Kicking them out may not be as simple. The apostle Paul illustrated in Romans 7:14-25 that there is a constant war between the flesh and the spirit. The flesh will constantly crave those things that are destructive, but the spirit craves for those things that are life. Most of the terrorists that we have discussed are in fact the fruits of the flesh. By renewing your mind intentionally, you begin to bring the flesh to discipline that will ensure your victory.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, in order to prove by you what is that good and pleasing and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2

“But in all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37

The good news is that we have victory in Christ. We have gone beyond conquering. If we grasp the truth and assimilate it properly, none of these terrorists will overpower us. There is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. By continuous practice, you will gain dominion over those areas that you have previously struggled with. It starts with the decision that you are going to kick out that terrorist. Then you follow through with perseverance. Finally it will occur as a hazy memory that you used to struggle in that area. Then will you say the same words that Paul wrote to Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” – 1 Timothy 4:7.

Kick That Thought - Mastering Brain Activity

The terrorist invading your software

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.” – Frank Outlaw.

If thoughts were displayed on our heads as we go about our business, a lot of us would be embarrassed at the thoughts we sometimes entertain. The advantage of thoughts being private is often a snare as people allow themselves to drift on with thoughts that are not only embarrassing if someone else knew but that are detrimental to them in the long run. Few people realise the importance of disciplining themselves in the area of their thoughts. Most think they can think what they want and everything will be just fine. Unfortunately, this is a deception. Our thought arena is probably the most important area that we need discipline. The proverb says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7.

You have the ability and authority to kick out the terrorist after your software. Taking responsibility of your thoughts is the first step and before you know it, this terrorist will be pushed out. Some people may be thinking that they are not affected by this terrorist. By taking an audit of how you feel most of the time, you will find out the dominant thoughts on your mind. If you are generally depressed, it means you think depressing thoughts. If you are generally scared, it means you think scary thoughts. Refuse to be made a victim in your own mind. Identify what is bringing in these thoughts and act on it.

Never give terrorists the advantage. Some people have said that when you give the enemy an inch, he will take a mile. Do not give him access. Once you have opened yourself up to improper media, you have opened the door. Prevention is better than cure. Choose to fill your mind with the kind of material that is consistent with the kind of person you want to be. No one is attracted to vulgarities. There is nothing beautiful about foul language. Why would you want to make programs and music with obscene language your favourite? You are better than that. Respect yourself and refuse to be violated in the name of entertainment.
